May 2010 - Commodity Fruit Update and Answers

We have been getting a lot of questions and activity surrounding commodity fruit recently and thought it would be a good idea to give everyone an update on the different solutions we have on how to turn commodity (and bonus commodity) fruit into real menu solutions:

Coffee Cake and our Fruit Crumble Recipe (G0616): This is still our number one item for adding commodity applesauce and fruit. Simply replace the water in our coffee cake recipe with applesauce and add a #10 can of (drained) fruit to make a delicious fruit crumble cake that gives you one bread and 3/8 cup fruit. And don't forget to check out our Applesauce Oatmeal Squares!

Vanilla Frosty Creme and our Blueberry Magic recipe: (G2355): There are a lot of Blueberries out there (and strawberries are coming!) and this recipe is a great way to give your kids a gourmet treat that is easy to make and affordable!

Frit Mate: (G0975): We have been getting a lot more interest in our Fruit Mate and traditional favorites like
our Fall Fun Dip, Pumpkin Chiffon Pie and Aloha Island Pie.

Golden Choice Sugar Free Desserts: And Don't forget we now have a full line of Golden Choice sugar free baking mixes, desserts, drink mixes and gelatins!

All these items (as well as product information, specs and recipes) are available here on our website. Just enter one of these recipes in the search box above or click below on the fruit you want to work with...it's that easy!
